Glass lamination is the hot bonding of two or more sheets of glass of various thicknesses, putting an elastic EVA type film between them. The finished product thus obtained is called laminated or laminated glass, with various uses due to its increased safety properties, at the same time as the ability to meet the demands of the current market. The foil used can be transparent, matte or colored. The advantages of laminating glass with foil are: clarity of the finished product and durability over time.

Characteristics of laminated glass

\n

Laminated glass is used in the execution of glass floors, awnings, steps and railings, due to its safety properties: at the time of breakage, the glass fragments remain glued by means of the film inside, eliminating the risk of injury to people.

\n

Another important aspect in everyday life is the protection against vandalism and burglary in public and residential spaces. In the event of an impact, windows, glazing or glass walls with laminated glass remain in place and can be a solution if a suitable laminated glass is chosen. The thickness and structure of the anti-burglary glass is given by the degree of security required by the regulations in force.

\n

Laminated glass is also the basis for the execution of bulletproof glass or explosion-resistant glass.

\n

The number and thickness of the glass sheets, as well as the number of EVA sheets interspersed are established according to the size of the laminated glass, its usefulness and resistance in case of impact or the weight it must support. The degree of safety increases proportionally to the number of films used. Moreover, the windows can be secured before lamination if mechanical fasteners (holes, cutouts) are used, thus increasing the strength of the finished laminated glass.

\n

In addition to its resistance and safety properties, laminated glass with foil also meets current architectural and design requirements. Thus, windows of various thicknesses can be laminated or mass-colored; Various fabrics, special prints, colored films can be inserted between the windows to create multiple effects. Two sheets of colored glass (painted in any RAL color) can be laminated with the paint on the inside to have color and opacity on both sides, while preserving the shine of the glass on the outside. Doors, glass walls, shower cabins can be executed.

\n

Ego Company proposes laminated glass with matte foil on the inside instead of mechanically sandblasted glass, because it is much easier to maintain due to the elimination of the risk of staining the sandblasting over time.
